EA Origin no longer available in certain Countries

Written by Damien

If you find yourself living in Myanmar you will find it difficult, impossible even to log into your EA origins account. With the Origin 10 update US laws have forced them to block certain countries (Myanmar being one of possible others) from accessing the service. If you happen to live in one of these countries affected there is nothing that can be done for you at this time. The reason for this seems to stem from the US government trade embargo on Myanmar. In accordance with US law, EA is legally required to restrict online services to residents of countries that are embargoed. This isn't an EA-specific issue -- it's an issue that impacts all companies offering services that are covered by trade embargoes. Interestingly the embargo on Myanmar was lifted earlier in the month and internally EA is working effortlessly to find whether and when services can be restored. Similarly if you live in another country affected by this you may be out of games for some time.

Other countries affected include…

  • Cuba
  • Iran
  • North Korea
  • Sudan
  • Syria
  • And the Crimea region of Ukraine

Spotted by Twitter user Bill Wright, it appears that Rockstar's parent company Take Two has registered the domain This domain currently takes you to the Rockstar Newswire post which features yesterdays second teaser image.

Gravity Rush 2 Delayed

Written by Damien

Director Keiichiro Toyama took to the Playstation Blog to announce that Gravity Rush 2 will no longer be releasing this holiday season due to an onslaught of heavy hitters being released. We can now expect Kat's final adventure on January 20, 2017. According to Toyama because of the packed holiday season it probably wouldn't be wise to release Kat's final outing at such a populated time. The full quote from the blog post can be read below...

"Gravity Rush 2 is the conclusion of Kat's journey, so we want players to have enough time to dive deep into her story. In addition, as a lot of work went into online features that allow for asynchronous player interaction, we want as many people as possible playing the title at the same time."

"After four years of development making a title we are very proud of, we want to release it at the very best time."

Along with the announcement of the delay comes word that the announced paid story DLC will now be released for free as sort of an I'm sorry statement for the delay.

We at Skyematrixgaming are a little upset to see another game delayed but hope the new release date finds Kat in a lot more homes because of it. Are you happy for the delay or pissed? We want to hear from you so sound off on our Twitter and Facebook.

Overwatch Halloween Terror Event to launch today?

Written by Damien

Last week it slipped that some Halloween Loot Boxes would be coming to Overwatch. This slip which was caught on the XBOX Live Store was promptly removed. Due to this slip up it was revealed that certain characters would be getting halloween specific costumes, new emotes, sprays and even new character Sombra.

At the time of this writing Blizzard has yet to confirm or deny the existence of the Halloween Terror Event. All we have to go on is this image which was swiftly removed from Taiwanese Overwatch site. In the image we see a Roadhog dressed as a Frankenstein with Junkrat as the mad scientist holding on to him.

According to the image we can expect the update at some point today. Even though this image has since had its date changed from the 11th to the 12th, in Taiwan the 12th is actually Americas October 11th. According to the original post a patch should drop 3AM Korean time Wednesday which translates to 11am PT/7pm BST/8pm CEST, today, October 11. The patch is said to be 1.74GB in size.

We at Skyematrixgaming will keep you posted as more news develops.

PSVR not capable of HDR content

Written by Damien

PSVR is less than a week away and Sony has decided to release an FAQ on what you can expect when the affordable VR option is released. While High Dynamic Range color is off the table it appears that 4K is not. Here is all the information we have gathered as well as a link to the actual FAQ Sony released.

With High Dynamic Range (HDR) color now available on all PS4's, Sony has come out saying that users who own a PSVR will have to unplug the headset to take advantage of the HDR effects the system is capable of as PSVR is not capable of HDR at any resolution but however is capable of 4K.

How the PSVR connects to your system and television exactly is this, the PSVR connects to the PS4 through an external box referred to as the Processor Unit. Consider this like a HDMI splitter that allows the PS4 to output images to a second screen i.e. your television. The processor unit also handles audio processing for 3D sound.

Sony released a lengthy FAQ on what you can expect when PSVR releases. Sony has come out saying the Processor Unit supports pass-through for non-VR content. Meaning that even if you have the PSVR hooked up through the processor unit you will still be able to use your PS4 as usual- albeit as long as the box is plugged in and the headset is turned off. This will also apply to 4K content as PSVR is capable of 4K resolutions (3840 x 2160 pixels) at up to 60 frames per second.

Will you be picking up a PSVR when it releases on October 13? Does this news sway your decision one way or the other? We at Skyematrixgaming want to know and for all things PSVR keep it locked here.

Ark Scorthed Earth DLC

Written by Will

Ark's new map Scorched Earth is a very different style than the previous two maps that have been released so far. They have introduced new dinos with the map one of the most terrifying in my honest opinion is the rock golem. The rock golem hides in rock form until a player is close to it to make it attack. They are pretty hard to spot unless they are on a hillside then the rock will look like it is floating in the air. They have also added storms in the map and there are three different kinds of storms. There is a lighting storm that will kill all electronics and make everything darker, a sandstorm that will drain the stamina of any animal or player outside in the storm and heat strokes where the map will go very hot to the point where the player is overheating. You can also take your character from another server and transfer the player over to the Scorched Earth servers, same level and same engram points. Overall the map is very fun to play and interesting to see that water is the valuable resource in the game instead of cementing paste or crystal. There is a lot to check out in the map so get your Scorched Earth DLC for $19.99 if you are wanting to play.
